Eden’s Closet | Purchase with purpose + a giveaway

Eden’s Closet exists to bring hope and freedom by partnering with local non-profits who combat sex trafficking in Seattle, WA.

You all know that I love purchasing with a purpose.  When my friend Cassandra emailed me a few weeks ago to tell me she re-opened her Etsy shop, I was smitten at first sight over the necklaces in her shop.  Her heart and goal in opening Eden’s Closet is something that is also so dear to me and an issue we all need to know is happening,  Human trafficking.  A modern day slavery that must stop. Not only am I so honored to wear this necklace, I am standing by her in support and all she is doing to bring awareness to this tragedy.  As a woman and a mother of girls, my heart breaks for the woman and children that are currently enslaved. My heat breaks for the children that have been sold and the children that have been captured that can’t find their way out. My heart breaks and I want to help. We all want to be excepted, feel safe, loved unconditionally for who we are and belong to a family and community. We are believing for hope and restoration after these woman are freed.
We would love for you to stand with us and help support. By purchasing with purpose this holiday season you can change lives. 78% of every purchase goes straight to charity. Be sure to use the discount code: XMAS14 for 10%  off any piece at Eden’s Closet. There is also a giveaway below!

I decided recently to re-open my Etsy shop with the goal of raising money for non-profits fighting human trafficking here in Seattle. Why? Here’s the issue:

“Human trafficking is modern-day slavery and the fastest-growing criminal industry in the world. It is the recruitment of people by means of threat, force, coercion or deception for the purpose of exploitation. Sex trafficking is one of the most profitable forms of trafficking and involves many kinds of sexual exploitation, such as prostitution, pornography and the commercial sexual abuse of children. What you may not know is that sex trafficking is not just something that takes place in 3rd world nations, but also happens to US citizens residing within U.S. borders.

The Department of Justice estimates that more than 250,000 American children are at risk for trafficking into the sex industry annually and the average age of girls who enter into street prostitution is between 12 and 14 years old. Sex traffickers target vulnerable young girls, such as runaway, homeless, and foster care children. Incest and other forms of abuse often drive children to run away from home, making them vulnerable to the cunning tactics of sex traffickers. In fact, 1 in 3 runaways are recruited by a pimp with in 48 hours of leaving home.”

This issue has been close to my heart for many years. I became acquainted with a local non-profit called REST (Real Escape from the Sex Trade) a couple years ago and fully believe in and support their mission, vision, and cause. I honestly can’t think of a more worthy beneficiary!

100% of the net profit from this shop will be donated to REST. That means about 78% of every purchase goes straight to charity. How often do you find that? AND, you get a beautiful piece of jewelry out of it. So, buy some jewelry, wear it like a boss, raise awareness, and be part of something bigger than yourself.
